Establishing: The Global Peace Tower (Atlanta) will honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthplace and build upon: “The Gandhi-King Global Peace Connection.” This major peace project is one of 7 being created by Atlanta: City of Peace, Inc. We invite and welcome YOU to participate as an “Official Founder” (regardless of where on Earth you live).
Through this site we now invite any and all internationally respected building designers to submit development ideas for Atlanta’s future global architectural peace-icon. Every great city on Earth has an iconic landmark, except Atlanta: City of Peace. What is your vision for this future globally-respected structure?
Giza, Egypt has the great Pyramids. New York City has the Empire State Building. Sydney, Australia has the Sydney Opera House. Paris, France has the Eiffel Tower. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has Christ the Redeemer Statue. Pisa, Italy has the Leaning Tower. St. Louis, Missouri has the Gateway Arch. London, England has the Big Ben Clock Tower, etc.
In order for Dr. King’s birthplace to significantly nurture “The Gandhi-King Global Peace Connection” then it is imperative that Atlanta’s future “Global Peace Tower” is record-breaking in every way possible. All major international cities hunger for an architectural icon that will highlight their assets, character, and future potential. Therefore Atlanta’s future Global Peace Tower will inspire peace cultivation, education and inspiration on a world-wide scale.
The Gandhi-King Global Peace Connection makes Atlanta an ideal candidate as “Mother Earth’s Global Capital of Peace.” The Earth needs an international capital of peace and WE volunteer Atlanta: City of Peace to serve our Global Family in this honorable capacity. Atlanta is one of the best positioned cities on Earth to experience both economic AND societal windfall with Peace thru Tourism. Cultivating peace will foster security and usher growth in commerce (local-global). FACT: Dr. King’s birthplace has “The World’s Biggest & Busiest Airport!” Approximately 100 MILLION passengers came through Atlanta in 2007 (riding on ~1 MILLION flights)! We now invite these millions of people to “stay awhile” to assist us with our plans to transform Atlanta into a global capital and beacon of peace. In addition to needing help with constructing: “The Global Peace Tower (ATL)” we also invite and welcome Peacemakers from everywhere on Earth to help us create The Global Peace Academy, The Global Peace Concert, The Global Peace Flight, The Global Peace Garden, The Global Peace Museum and The Global Peace Walk. Let’s unite to fulfill Atlanta’s extraordinary potential.
WE believe that millions and hundreds of millions of people worldwide already look at Atlanta as a city of peace because Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born there and is one of Earth's most respected and accomplished Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. Dr. King is also the most globally productive peace movement protégé of Gandhi: Man of the Millennium (Years 1000-2000). In October 2007 one of the world’s greatest living Peacemakers visited Atlanta. If His Holiness The Dalai Lama recognizes and honors the Gandhi-King Global Peace Connection, then WE can too. He proclaimed:
“Atlanta has a great significance, and it is a great joy for me to be with you today, the citizens of Atlanta... Visionaries such as Mahatma Gandhi and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. have shown us that successful changes can be brought about nonviolently. I believe that, at the basic human level, most of us wish to be peaceful. Deep down, we desire constructive, fruitful growth and dislike destruction.”
